The Skolkovo Innovation Center introduced a new project - Bee House, designed specifically to track the location and condition of bees.
This startup, the developers assure, not only significantly raises the level of industrial apiaries, but also will be useful to those beekeepers who cannot be present on their own lands around the clock.
Startups took as their basis the method of digital tracking of bees through the so-called computer vision. The gap from which the bees leave the hive is under vigilant video surveillance. Online footage gets into a special controller. Together with the video signal, information from the other sensors - temperature, light, level of carbon dioxide, etc., is also received there. The Wi-Fi router transfers information to the cloud platform.

A special algorithm allows the “Bee house” not only to monitor the bees, but also to analyze their behavior, and then to predict further actions of insects.
“Working on the project, experimenting and observing the bees, we came to the conclusion that we can not only predict but also prevent the development of a special syndrome in insects - the so-called Colony Collapse Disorder,” say Skolkovo researchers. “Under the influence of this syndrome, bees destroy their families: they fly apart and no longer return to their family nest.”
