The Irish ABP Food Group, one of Europe's largest private meat processing enterprises and the Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT), has confirmed a new partnership to develop continuing education skills and expand research collaboration, which will include the development of a specialized meat industry research center in DkIT .
The new partnership between ABP and DkIT will focus on collaboration, developing academic programs, joint research initiatives, and joint marketing and sponsorship opportunities.
The partnership will also explore the possibility of creating a new public-private enterprise to create a specialized research center for the meat industry at the Technological Institute.Martin Kane, managing director of ABP Ireland, said the new partnership will allow the development of special courses and modules for students who want to pursue a career in ABP and the wider agro-food industry.
In turn, DkIT President Michael Mulvey said that since ABP already employs many graduates of the Institute, the partnership will further develop skills, innovations and experience in the agri-food sector, which is vital for the development of the entire north-eastern region of Ireland.
