Food market experts recently estimated that between January 1 and June 1, 2019, Ukrainian producers of fruit and vegetable canning shipped about twenty-eight thousand tons of tomatoes corked in cans to external trading floors.
It is noteworthy that this indicator is eight percent higher than exports in the first five months of 2018.
It should be noted that countries such as: Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic can be considered the main purchasers of Ukrainian canned fruits and vegetables. For example, Polish importers account for forty-two percent of Ukrainian canned exports.
And Germany and the Czech Republic purchase seven percent of the total turnover of canned vegetables from Ukraine. It is important to add that the average cost of canned tomatoes made by Ukrainian producers is eight hundred and six dollars per ton.
It should also be emphasized that the annual volume of world exports of processed tomatoes is approximately five million tons. And Italy is the first-rate world leader in canned food production (last year, local producers managed to launch over two million tons of canned food on the market).
Manufacturers from the People's Republic of China, Spain, the United States of America, as well as Portuguese and Turkish manufacturers also have stable positions in this market.
