The Ukrainian market for indoor vegetables has been experiencing negative price trends since last week, according to UPRA analysts. Experts predict a further decline in vegetable prices in Ukraine.
After the rapid decline in prices for cucumbers in the previous reporting period, market operators did not record any changes in the situation during the week. This is due to a significant increase in the selection of cucumbers from greenhouses. The low prices for vegetables and the purchasing power of the population after the May holidays do not allow raising prices for vegetables.
Thus, in the last days of last week, a new price range was established at 15-20 UAH / kg. Market operators do not exclude that the price of cucumbers in the near future may further decline. The tomato market last week was influenced by other factors. The prices for tomatoes that were set in the country over the past month, as well as their increase on holidays, caused a significant increase in the supply of cheaper foreign products.
Last week, tomatoes grown in Turkey and Poland were sold on Ukrainian markets at a price of 30 UAH / kg. Consumers did not complain about the quality of foreign vegetables. Under these conditions, Ukrainian producers were forced to revise the cost of their goods and reduce prices to 40 UAH / kg or less.
