The prosecutor’s office in Kazan is not the first to investigate a case of poisoning children by a means of exterminating rats. “At the moment, we are investigating all the circumstances in this case,” the prosecutor’s office said. “Its essence boils down to the fact that three Kazan high school students ate rat poison.”

The poison in the form of small granules was hidden, according to the school staff, reliably and carefully - in the dark corner of the assembly hall. However, enterprising students still found a "cache" behind the central heating radiator grill and ventured to taste unknown granules. The result of the “tasting” was that two boys and a young lady had to be hospitalized with signs of severe toxic poisoning.

“During the investigation, it was possible to find out that the poison to fight rats in the assembly hall was left by employees of a special organization for the destruction of pests and rodents,” the prosecutor’s office said. According to law enforcement officers, the pest controllers acted on the basis of an agreement that they concluded with the school’s leadership.

An employee of the company, which processed the school from uninvited mice and rats, admitted that she came to the educational institution every month and, if required, added portions of poison to certain premises of the school. She transferred part of the poison to one of the school staff for use, so that he could also control the poison reserves.

It is known that today a woman who poisoned rats in a school is reprimanded. In addition, she was deprived of the prize. Because, according to prosecutors, the employee of the disinfection service casually performed her duties, as a result of which the rat poison was available to minors.

The prosecutor’s office insists on opening criminal proceedings under article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Negligence”.
