For three years now, in the village of Denikhovka in the Kiev region, a powerful farming complex has been operating, growing geese. In addition to developing the economy and paying taxes, she created new jobs for her compatriots.
Geese have been raised on the farm for 3 years. Today, 40 people work here. Geese are well adapted to the local climate; they tolerate winter quite successfully. These birds are undemanding to food, says Valentina Maksimchuk.
Geese are waterfowl, and this must be taken into account when growing them. It is advisable to equip a pond for them, says farm manager Alexander Eismont. Currently, Valentina Maksimchuk has about 1 thousand birds of the Greater Gray breed on the farm. The weight of an adult goose is 4-5.5 kg; a goose is usually larger and heavier. Each male is provided with three females, so there are no fights here. During the season a goose is able to sit 15 goslings. Males maintain productivity for 5-6 years, females - 4-5 years. Geese almost always flock, as they are collective birds. In winter, one goose eats an average of 300 g of grain per day. And geese are fed on the farm only with natural feeds: wheat, corn, protein-vitamin complex. Birds can freely move around the farm and go for a walk every day. Valentina Maksimchuk plans to expand production and sell not only carcasses of geese and eggs, but also young animals. On the farm, they are also thinking about releasing foie gras, considering it a profitable export destination.
