Vocational schools (vocational schools) should be leased to business in order to develop Ukrainian agricultural education. This proposal was voiced by the Director General of the Industrial Dairy Company (IMC), the president of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business Association Alex Lissits during the Agroport South Kherson 2019.
“It’s not a big secret that when buying emergency modern equipment and investing extraordinary means in technology, unfortunately, we are faced with the problem that we lack qualified, professional personnel, such as tractor drivers, locksmiths, carpenters, electric welders, etc.
My personal opinion is that the state, unfortunately, in terms of vocational education today has very few resources, both financial and human.
Therefore, I propose in Ukraine, in terms of the development of vocational education, to give vocational schools for rent to companies and associations for UAH 1 for 100 years in order to finally make vocational education possible, modern, competitive, one that meets the best international standards, ” - noted Lissitsa.
In turn, the acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Olga Trofimtseva added that she sees a successful public-private partnership along this path, but more work needs to be done on this issue.
“We don’t need to have 18 agricultural universities and recruit people there solely in order to keep the state order of everyone who can write, count and read a little there, and everyone goes to the university and receives a diploma of higher education.
We devalue the diplomas of higher education on the one hand, and on the other hand, students, unfortunately, do not get anything good from the point of view of knowledge, period. Therefore, fewer agricultural universities should be left, but with higher quality, indeed with a high, world-class higher education, ”Trofimtseva emphasized.
