In the vastness of the Leningrad Region, agrarians have begun the process of harvesting plants for preparing cattle feed.
The press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation reports that today at least nine agricultural enterprises of the Leningrad Region have joined the forage harvesting campaign.
Employees of these enterprises understand the importance of proper harvesting of plants (especially the first mowing, because it is considered the most nutritious), which directly affects, for example, the quality of milk in cows. And, as you know, it is the region of the Northern capital that is the forward of the Russian Federation in the production of milk.
Oleg Malashchenko, deputy head of the Leningrad region administration, who is also the head of the regional committee on agribusiness and fisheries, emphasizes that in a short period of time, the participants of the forage harvesting campaign in 2019 in the region have already managed to mow about five hectares of forage fields.
The key to success of the Leningrad leaders of the dairy industry Malashchenko calls the excellent fodder base, which farmers provide livestock every year, and the excellent genetics of the regional herd.
All this, combined with excellent care for animals and generous investments from the state, gives the region the opportunity to maintain leadership positions.
