During the second week of April, prices for pigs slaughtered conditionally increased rapidly.
So, according to the results of weekly price monitoring, analysts of the Association “Pig Breeders of Ukraine” note an increase in the average purchase price of pork by almost 10%, compared to the previous week - up to 45 UAH / kg live weight.
In addition to the upward movement of prices for commodity pigs, market operators this week observed a noticeable spread in quotations depending on the region. Whereas in the central and eastern regions, purchase prices ranged between 44-45 UAH / kg, in the western regions 1 kg of live weight pork cost 45-48 UAH.Representatives of the country's meat processing industry noticed that one of the reasons for such a difference in prices is the greater focus of the border regions on European prices and the weakening of competition on the part of the imported product.
Procurers also noted an increase in price competition between processing enterprises for live bait of downhole conditions. Despite the appreciable rise in price of live bait pigs, processors are talking about increasing its sales, as well as increasing demand for the end consumer, who begins preparations for Easter. Both pork producers and processors note that it is worth waiting for a further upward price movement.
