A truly gigantic oyster was found on the territory of one of the oyster farms in France.
We are talking about the production of mollusks in the western region of Vendée, in the vast commune of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire, where one of the employees discovered a twenty-five-centimeter oyster, whose weight reaches about one and a half kilograms.
The name of the farm worker who found the amazing clam, Mathieu Naslain. He tells how he walked along the channel where oysters grow, and suddenly he stepped on something big. It turned out that this is a giant clam. Experienced farm workers estimated the approximate age of the find to be thirteen, or even fifteen, years.
It is noteworthy that a few months earlier, in the spring of 2019, an oyster was found on the same farm, the weight of which was slightly less - one kilogram of three hundred grams. According to Naslan, in this area you can probably find a lot of such mollusks. However, only in the ocean - to meet the abundance of such giants on land is unlikely.
One and a half kilogram beauty was given the name of Georgette - in honor of one of the employees of the farm, who worked at the enterprise for decades and this summer went on a well-deserved rest. Farm management emphasizes that Georgette is edible, but no one is in a hurry to eat it.
And although foodies and collectors from all over the world are ready to pay a lot of money for a giant oyster, they are not going to sell it for a farmer in the commune of Talmon-Saint-Hilaire for any money: “This is our trophy! Let it grow - let's see how large it can grow! ”
