Phytosanitary experts of Rivne and Volyn regions inform about numerous cases of revealing new foci of distribution of the American white butterfly.
In connection with the discovery of the American white butterfly in Volyn, in Rozhischensky district as of September 5, quarantine was introduced on an area of 1022.3 hectares. It is reported by the Main Directorate of the State Food and Beverage Service in the Volyn region.
It is noted that this quarantine pest in the Volyn region was detected for the first time. The trend towards the spread of the American white butterfly is observed in the neighboring Rivne region.

According to the Office of the State Food and Beverage Service, in places where the quarantine regime was introduced (Goshchansky district, Goshcha village, Babin village - 3.7 hectares and Sarnensky district, Sarny town - 4.5 hectares), the American white butterfly showed the greatest harmfulness.
New pest outbreaks have been seen in neighboring areas of the Rivne region. In August of this year, new outbreaks were identified and a quarantine regime was introduced with respect to the pest in Zdolbunovsky (v. Zdolbitsa, v. Kunin, v. Uyezdtsy) and Sarnensky (v. Remchitsy) districts on a total area of 3.4 hectares.
According to experts, in comparison with last year, the harmfulness of the insect has increased significantly due to favorable weather conditions. In 2018, in the Rivne region there were no areas with quarantine restrictions for this pest. And this year, weather conditions contributed to the emergence of new foci of the spread of the American white butterfly and the expansion of quarantined areas.
