To date, Russian farmers have managed to carry out spring sowing on open spaces of more than thirty million hectares.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, this figure is 56.7% of the total area of spring crops planned for the current season.
For clarity, we note that a year earlier, in mid-May 2018, the area of spring crops was 23.4 million hectares.It is reported that the grain component of spring crops this year is equal to 17.2 million hectares, which is almost 58.5% of the planned area. Note that in the same period of the previous year, only 13.3 million hectares were sown with spring grain.
If we talk about barley crops, then we are talking about 6.1 million hectares at the moment (more than 77% of the planned area). As for spring wheat, today Russian farmers are showing crops in the amount of 5.2 million hectares or 42.5% of the planned area.Cereal corn today occupies territories with a total area of 2.1 million hectares (almost 80%), and rice grows on 149 thousand hectares, which is 77.7% of the plan planned for 2019.
